1. Establishment of the Robert Martin Award
In honor of Sir Robert Martin—the first person with an intellectual disability to serve as a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities—and in the hope of encouraging the achievements of many people with intellectual disabilities around the world, this award has been established. It has been created with the formal approval of the Government of New Zealand and Sir Robert’s family.
2. Adoption as a Taxi Design
In collaboration with a taxi company in Oita Prefecture, the award-winning work announced on the day of the International Conference will be adopted as a taxi wrapping design. The taxis featuring the winning design will also be showcased during the International Conference.
3. Collaboration with Corporate Awards
In partnership with various corporate-sponsored awards, selected winning works from the exhibition will be applied as actual designs for products or services, creating new value in society.

The award has been created with the formal approval of the Vice-Chair of the CRPD Committee and Honorary Chairperson of our organization, Ms. Amalia Gamio, as well as the Government of New Zealand and Sir Robert’s family.The above-mentioned initiative marks the establishment of an international award, along with the creation of several other prizes.
From late July to the end of October 2025,
we will host the Global Disability Art Festival at various venues. Details of the locations will be announced progressively as they are confirmed.

The award winners will be announced in early October, and the award ceremony will also be accessible online.
